Tape Libraries

The family of HP StorageWorks Enterprise Systems Library (ESL) E-Series Tape Libraries offers both best-in-class drive and cartridge densities. In a single cabinet the ESL E-Series contains from 322 to 712 LTO cartridges or 286 to 630 SDLT cartridges. In addition, the ESL E-Series has the ability to scale to twenty four drives in a single library cabinet.

The ESL E-Series can be managed as a single library with up to five frames, 3546 Ultrium cartridges or 3138 SDLT cartridges and up to 44 tape drives using the ESL E-Series Cross Link Kit and Cross Link Expansion Kit.
Offered with Ultrium 960 Native Fibre Channel (FC), Ultrium 460 SCSI, Ultrium 460 Native Fibre Channel (FC) Drives, SDLT 600 tape technology, the ESL E-Series offers best-in-class storage density with up to 28.4 TB of native storage capacity per square foot.

The HP StorageWorks Enterprise Modular Library (EML) E-Series Tape Libraries provide robust data protection and investment protection in heterogeneous Storage Area Networks (SAN) environments. The EML delivers superior data availability with protection against SAN event disruptions using the built in HP StorageWorks Extended Tape Library Extended Architecture (ETLA). ETLA intercepts rogue I/O requests from applications or new servers and prevent those requests from interrupting backup or recovery processes. You can also flexibly scale to 202TB native capacity or 4.6TB/hr performance from rack-ready or factory racked configurations. Also, easily manage the EML remotely while simplifying complex environments with logical library partitioning. The EML is ideally suited as a companion for the HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) family.

The EML Tape Libraries are fully integrated into the HP StorageWorks portfolio through interoperability and compatible capacity points. The EML tape library is extensively tested in the Enterprise Backup Solution (EBS) to ensure that it works in the most rigorous environment. Documentation is provided to enable you to configure, design and implement the best data protection solution for your environment. Entry configurations start at 71-slots. Maximize capacity with 505-slots or maximize performance with 16- drives. The EML delivers value through high reliability data protection, agility through modular scalability and simplicity through ease of management.

The HP StorageWorks MSL Tape Libraries are HP's Business Class Libraries and can scale from one (1) to (16) Tape Drives and from (24) to up to (96) or (240) cartridge slots.
